Treason case to be filed against Imran Khan, Arif Alvi, Qasim Suri

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced at a press conference in Islamabad that the government will file treason charges against former prime minister Imran Khan, former president Arif Alvi, and former deputy speaker Qasim Suri. The minister also mentioned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's proposal of a Charter of Economy in Parliament, which, he said, was perceived by the opposition as a sign of weakness. Tarar revealed that stringent actions would be taken against several prominent figures, including Alvi, Khan, and Suri. He indicated that a treason case under Article 6 of the Constitution would be lodged against them, with their passports and CNIC cards to be blocked and a parliamentary resolution to be introduced.
