Pakistan Heritage Day was marked for the first time at Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the Mayor of New York City. The ceremony was attended by New York Mayor Eric Adams, senior city and state officials, diplomats, political leaders, and a large number of Pakistani-American community members. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, and Consul General of Pakistan in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai represented Pakistan at the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Ahmad congratulated the community on Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day and lauded their role in strengthening Pakistan-US relations. He reiterated that Pakistan was fully capable of defending its sovereignty while continuing to work for peace, progress and international cooperation.
