Election schedule to be released soon, says CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja on Thursday assured that the schedule for the upcoming general elections on February 8, 2024 will be issued in the coming days. Speaking on the occasion of National Voters' Day, the CEC said that the electoral body is preparing for the elections and work related to the printing and delivery of final electoral rolls has been completed. ECP will issue notifications to district returning officers (DROs), returning officers (ROs), and assistant officers in a few days, Raja added. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is well aware of all its "constitutional and legal responsibilities", said the country's top electoral official. Raja further assured that full security will be provided during the elections, so citizens can exercise their right to vote with complete privacy and transparency. He urged public cooperation with the electoral watchdog to ensure peaceful elections and asked the people not to pay heed to baseless rumours regarding delays in general polls.
